We have practiced the “big picture” approach to pelvic floor health for over
25 years, taking into account the condition of patients’ pelvic area as well as their posture, habits, emotional health and other factors that come into play. PhysioDynamics offers treatments for common pelvic disorders that are simple, practical, effective and cost-efficient. We also provide physical therapy services for the prevention, treatment and self-management of disabilities affecting the muscular, skeletal, nervous, circulatory or respiratory systems.
Every patient’s needs are individually considered — we work in close collaboration with the referring urologist, gynecologist or other medical specialist who provides the original diagnosis. Donata Galluccio, PhysioDynamics founder and director, conducts all initial evaluation interviews to understand the patient’s history, analyze underlying physical problems and develop a customized therapy program.
How do you decide you need treatment?
According to New York State law, a licensed physical therapist can evaluate and treat a patient’s problem. We like to work closely with doctors, and in many cases they initiate the first appointment. Studies show that the most significant improvements often result
by combining physical therapy with
medical treatments.
Just as we foster working partnerships with physicians and allied professionals, we aim to develop working relationships with patients to help them achieve control, independence and a better quality of life. The recent explosion of medical research posted on the internet has empowered many patients to become more proactive about their own health management by researching treatment and technical references. If you would like more indepth information, see Resources and Useful Links about common pelvic conditions, treatment explanations and complementary therapies.
When you arrive, you will need to complete the PhysioDynamics’ registration form and questionnaire. At the appointment, we complete a comprehensive evaluation to determine any underlying physical problem and your general muscular and skeletal condition. Based on the findings, we develop an individualized treatment program for you. Donata Galluccio conducts all evaluations personally and in complete privacy. The appointment begins with an interview to review the questionnaire and address all your concerns. She is likely to ask you to complete a voiding or bowel diary form for the next visit. After the interview, she conducts a physical examination to evaluate your posture and pelvic condition.
What happens during treatment?Once your program is underway, you may attend several sessions, generally once a week at first and as you progress, less frequently. There are a variety of treatments available for pelvic floor dysfunctions (for specific treatment descriptions, see Pelvic Disorders). Many of these treatments successfully relieve pain while alleviating other problems. They include:
