What is Dysfunctional Voiding?

Poor relaxation of the pelvic muscles results in dysfunctional voiding. If you have this condition, you will have trouble emptying your bladder completely, resulting in a stop-start or prolonged stream of urine. In the absence of any neurological disease or pathology, this is likely to be a behavior developed in the past. In many cases, treatment consists of providing bladder techniques, training you to relax your pelvic muscles appropriately (in which case biofeedback may be helpful) and learning the technique of timed voiding.
